Arranging is an integral part of Bernard's musician profile. While at UNT (University of North Texas), famous for its 9 Big Bands, he studied arranging with Paris Rutherford. He continued his studies at Conservatorium van Amsterdam under the guidance of Jurre Haanstra, attending numerous masterclasses by Vince Mendoza, Dennis Mackrel and Ken Schaphorst among others. A large part of his work has materialised through "The BvR Flamenco Big Band”, featuring his own compositions, arrangements and lyrics. Bernard also arranges for other ensembles of differing formats and varying musical genres like the street symphonic orchestra "Ricciotti Ensemble" or the pioneering, pan-cultural "Nederlands Blazers Ensemble".
